This is a little piece of the classic web, intentionally and independently carved away from social media for the purpose of content and value, but leveraging various social media outlets as the dumb pipes that they are. If you're here, you might know me in some context or other - personally, professionally or both. Perhaps you have even stumbled upon this more or less anonymously. These collections of links and data are aspects of myself that I refuse to hand over various and sundry companies for their profit. While I may use their network effects to reach out to the world, the content I create to express myself here I do so on my own terms.
My personal perspective on the world of computers, software development, & my place in it. Includes a few important bits of history, trivia, and recommended resources in the for of FUQs (Frequently Unasked Questions).
Some musings on entertainment machines once considered a mob-related illegal money grab, now a reviving legitimate massive capitalist (bigger mob) money grab. Fun tips on how to get started with an addictive hobby I like to call "A poor man's golf."
Favorites in multiple categories (except for software - see that entire section). Mostly some classics and sci-fi / fantasy suggestions. Some quasi-political stuff.
My tastes are all over the map and include almost everything. Except country. I fucking hate so-called "country music".
Some all time favorites, many cult classics and some that fall into the "you may have never heard of but should totally see" recommendation category.
Some might ask, "Dude, where's your blog?!?"
I tried blogging. I realized, I'm not a blogger. Blog posts are frequent expressions of opinion and
open invitations for discussion of that opinion. I don't care about your opinion. At least
not enough to put it on an interactive content platform and engage in a discussion about it.
I do however like to crank out an occasional essay.
Essay: (noun) an analytic or interpretative literary composition usually dealing with its subject from a limited or personal point of view.
